Hurricanes in the Atlantic
The Atlantic hurricane season officially starts on June 1st and runs until November 30th. In the Eastern Pacific Ocean, hurricane season starts earlier on May 15 and ends on November 30th.
Tropical cyclones in the North Atlantic are called hurricanes, tropical storms, or tropical depressions.
There have been several storms over the years that have not been developed as fully tropical and are categorized as subtropical depressions and subtropical storms.
Even though subtropical storms and subtropical depressions are not technically as strong as tropical cyclones, the damages can still be devastating.
When the season 2021 starts, all the information about the tropical weather will be posted on this page or before if a tropical system threatens Mexico.
The University of Colorado has forecasted 12.1 named storms, 6.4 hurricnes, 2.7 major hurricanes and 24.2 hurricane days.
